Divisions and district’s of Himachal Pradesh:-

 

The State is divided into three Divisions, namely Mandi, Kangra, Shimla. The divisions are further sub-divided into 12 districts viz., Bilaspur , Chamba, Hamirpur, Kangra, Kinnaur, Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti, Mandi, Shimla, Sirmour, Solan and Una. The Districts are further Sub-Divided into 53 Sub-Division, 79 Tehsils and 37 Sub-Tehsils. Each Tehsil/Sub- Tehsil is Sub-divided into a number of Kanungo circles, each of which in turn, is further Sub-division, on an average, into a number of 7 to 10 Patwar Circles. However, for development purposes, districts are divided into a number of development blocks, which are not generally conterminous with the boundaries of Tehsils/Sub-Tehsils.Divisions and district's of Himachal Pradesh

  • Sub divisions in Shimla: Shimla Urban, Shimla Rural, Theog, Rampur, Chopal, Rohru and Dodra Kewar.
  • Tehsils in Shimla: Shimla Urban, Shimla Rural, Sooni, Theog, Kotkhai, Rampur, Kumarsain, Chopal, Rohru, Jubbal, Chidgaon and Dodra Kewar.
  • Sub-Tehsils in Shimla: Cheta (Kupavi), Nankhari, Tikkar, Junga and Narwan.

Governance of the districts of Himachal Pradesh:-Divisions and district's of Himachal Pradesh

The state of Himachal Pradesh is made up of 12 districts that function as its geographical or governmental divisions. A district magistrate or deputy commissioner or a bureaucrat of the Indian Administrative Service cadre is entrusted with the responsibility of supervising the district. Various executives and staff of the Himachal Administrative Service and other state departments help the deputy commissioner or the district magistrate in carrying out their duties. An official of the IPS (Indian Police Service) cadre is appointed as the Superintendent of Police (SP) of the district. He looks after the law and order situations of the area. Himachal Police Service employees and other law enforcement staff help him out to perform his duties. A bureaucrat of the IFS (Indian Forest Service) cadre is appointed as the deputy conservator of forests. He has the duty of looking after and protecting the forest areas of the district, ecological balance and affairs associated with the flora and fauna of the area. Employees of the Himachal Pradesh Forest Service and other functionaries of the forest department help him carry out his duties.
