Discussion/debate
During discussions/debates on Bills, issues of public or national interest on the floor of Parliament legislatures could point out any shortcoming of the government or its policies or loopholes in any laws or proposed bills.
Question Hour
It is the first hour of business every day when PARLIAMENT is in session. It is during the Question Hour that the members can ask questions on every aspect of administration and Governmental activity. This brings government policies in national as well as international spheres come into sharp focus.
According to Article 85 of the Constitution, the time gap between two sessions cannot be more than six months. However, it is the government (Cabinet committee on parliamentary affairs) that decides the exact time and duration of the Parliamentary session. Allowing the government to call the Parliament to meet is seen as a conflict with the principle of government being accountable to the Parliament.
