  • Sikar has 649 girls per 1,000 boys, worst in Rajasthan: Report

  • The recently released Central Registration System figures are contradictory to the figures released by the state. While the Centre has claimed that the state recorded an average SRB of 806 in 2016, the state had then claimed 939 girls had been born to 1,000 boys.

While these districts were always infamous for the skewed sex ratios, the state has claimed situation is not as bad now here. In Churu, 794 girls born against 1,000 boys in 2016, shows CRS data.

  • CRS figures indicated that abysmal sex ratios is associated with districts in Shekhawati region, some districts bordering Haryana and Punjab and districts in western part of the state. Hanumangarh and Sriganganagar too are among the 10 loswest with 748 and 786 respectively.

  • Western districts such as Jodhpur and Jaisalmer are also among the 10 worst districts with lowest SRB. Jaisalmer recorded 732 birth registration of girl child at birth against 1,000 boys’ registration in 2016. In Jodhpur, the SRB remained at 784, slightly better than Jaisalmer.
